The 2009 Annual Meeting was convened in Dalian from 24th to 25th of October. About 40 persons were present in the meeting, including all Committee Members and some researchers of the Laboratory. The meeting was presided over by Prof. ZHENG Lansun, Member of CAS and Chairman of the Academic Committee. Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP, attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. YANG Xueming, Director of the Laboratory, and other group leaders reported to the Committee Members on the accomplishments and progresses attained in the research work of the Laboratory in the past year, as well as on the research plans of the coming year. After the hearing, the Committee Members expressed congratulations to the Laboratory scientists for the obtaining of an evaluation as “excellent” in this year’s national assessment of all State Key Laboratories in the Chemistry area.

Then the Committee Members held discussions on the administration, budget utilization, maintenance of features of the Laboratory, overall arrangement and widening of research orientations, and allocation of man-power of the Laboratory. A number of creative proposals were raised, with emphasis on the planning of the development of the Theoretical & Computational Research Center, which was established as a subsidiary entity of the Laboratory. Enhancing approaches for promoting the growth of young scientists were also proposed.
