A letter from Prof. Helmut Schwarz, Chairman of the Humboldt Foundation, Germany, has been received by Prof. YANG Xueming of DICP, informing him that he was granted the Humboldt Research Award owing to his outstanding achievements in studies of chemical kinetics.
In a time span of more than 20 years, Prof. Yang has accomplished systematic and internationally spectacular achievements in the research of chemical kinetics by employing custom-made and unique installations. His studies have pushed the experimental technique in chemical kinetics to a level never attained before. Moreover, by collaborating with theoretical scientists, he has solved a number of long existing difficult problems in chemical kinetics, especially in the areas of reaction transition states and resonant state kinetics. His achievements have been highlighted as “Top Ten Annual Scientific and Technological Advancements in China” for two consecutive years.
