The developing and installing of the apparatus was masterminded by Prof. YANG Xueming of DICP. An Expert Appraisal Group organized by the Planning and Financing Bureau of CAS first debriefed the development report presented by Prof. YANG Xueming, and the testing report made by the Expert Testing Group. Then they inspected the research records and the relevant research files, and conducted field observation on the performance of the apparatus. After an earnest discussion, the experts agreed unanimously on the appraisal of the apparatus.
The experts gave an appraisal conclusion as follows: The main body and the accessories of the apparatus constituted a complete set. It possesses the functions of determining angle- and velocity-distributions of reaction products, regulating reaction colliding energies, and 3-D sectioning and measuring of the Newton spheres of reaction products. All these fulfilled the requirements of the project contract. Further more, the vacuum of the three cavities of the main body, the velocity resolution of the reaction products and the angle range of the rotateble beam source also attained the technical requirements of the contract. The apparatus has been operating properly, and was utilized in the studies of the F+SiH4 and H+CH4 reactions, resulted for the first time in the state-state resolved velocity imaging of the reaction products.
